I'm with you on this one. I've yet to twist a shoe on the hoof. Also I've had trainers want me to lower the heels, I have yet to do this as well.

On the good days Mrs. Steele is keeping me,

on the others she sometimes reconsiders why she is so nice......

I do both, depends on the hoof.

by that i mean, sometimes I dress the hoof, then fit the shoe and sometimes i fit to what i want/need and then clean it up.

I do both Ray to, sometimes I nail on a shoe and then hunt for it with the rasp, other times I dress the wall before fitting, but if I do that I do it before I get the cutters out. She is undoubtedly a good woman that Mrs Steele. A very eminent farrier in the uk used to burn the clip down into the wall then hunt for it with the rasp!!!!!!!

the Journeyman style is when you trim the foot; put set the shoe with 2 nails and then dress the foot to the shoe;'
the Traditional style is when you trim the foot; and dress down the hoof to where the shoe will set on the hoof.
both are legitimate way to shoe a horse.

I did s couple days in NZ with a guy that did that. It felt really dodgy finishing off what he nailed on. Also a well credentialed guy.

Really? Who told you that or where did you read that? What Journeyman certification calls for that method? If your talking about the AFA your full of it. I've seen quite a few journeyman runs and not one of them did that.

So again I ask where you got that info from?
