Just had a call from an owner that i 1st shod her horse for 4 weeks ago saying it has lost all 4 shoes within an hour of each other 'this afternoon. Ive been shoeing for 24 years and have never ever heard of such a thing. Apparently the horse is now crippled and i must come and sort it out and shes not willing to pay . so 2 questions here .Q 1 under uk law where do i stand if i say cant be bothered ? Ive shod all over the world and never come across such a thing but only been back here for 2 years so im uncertain as to where i stand .If it was freshly shod ( last 10 days ) i could almost think this was my fault but thats not the case. 2nd Q has anyone anywhere ever had such a thing happen?
Ill go over tommorow and have a look and yet again try and explain that in my mind something must have really spooked this horse for such a thing to happen and don't agree that it is my fault... and ill wait and see what happens

Never even heard of a horse losing all 4 within an hour of each other, especially if a competent farrier applied the shoes. I would also smell a rat if I were in your shoes. The owner claims the horse is lame so I would definitely want to take a look at the horse BUT I would make sure her vet is there with you. That way if it's not your fault there will be someone there to back you up.

Flies Billions of the bloody things no wonder it pulled its shoes Reshod at full cost no dramas some owners really do like to make a mountain out off a mole hill .He wasnt even foot sore...but is highly agitated by just 1 or 2 flies so hes going through hell right now as they live in a bog . its been bad at home the past couple of days with the flies but we are a mile from the coast and allways have a breeze but they are 2o miles inland on the edge of a peat bog so the horses over that way are going mental.I've prescribed over reach boots allround and a trip to the vets to pick up some sheep anti fly stuff such as spot on !! All in a days work eh...

Hey man, if you have flies over there that already know how to pull shoes then maybe it wouldn't be hard to train them to clinch an finish.

Having observed him for all of 30 secs he just cant stand still when the flies are about constantly changing from 1 foot to the other and he didnt seem to care when he was standing on his own coronary band .so no wonder he got his shoes off . but this is my record...
