    Any idea what the TE stands for?

    The TE stands for " totally enclosed". They are usually listed as TEFC Which means "totally enclosed fan cooled" or TEAO Which is "totally enclosed air over" this means the motor doesn't have any means of cooling itself and must be placed in a breezy area like driving a fan in duct work.
