So we finally had the "family Christmas" today and this is what my dad presents me with, unwrapped because my mom wouldn't let him for some reason.

Said he was given these about 40 years ago when he graduated high school. There's a bit of rust but they are certainly serviceable and I needed new ones desperately bad.

Great gift. Looks like they may have been rebuilt twice.

I wouldn't know. He graduated in 72 or 73 and they were supposed to be new then and he's never trimmed a horse. They did sit in a box in a shed the last 15 to 20 years, which explains the rust.

Means a lot to me. Especially since he wasn't real thrilled when I said I was going to shoeing school.

On the right side rein there are two initials or the like. IME, that is the "signature"/mark of the person who worked on the tool. I've not see it on a new pair of nippers/tool but I have several that were re-built and all bear the mark of the craftsman who each time, did the work.

Do you find it suspicious that those markings are GE? Much more plain than what GE stamps tools with today, but I figured it to be the brand.

Those are the old style GE stamps. Actually placed better than some I've seen.

Went out in the snow and reset the fronts on my wife's TB. What a difference from my other nippers. I will remember this lesson: don't wait so long for necessary tools!
