I just got an e mail stating that Capewell Horsenail production is ceasing production in Bloomfield Ct. and is being moved to either Sweden , Columbia or both.

So what makes conditions more favorable in those other locations? Are they more "green?"

I think the American Government is making it a hostile environment to stay here. Why wouldn't companies want to go.

That makes me mad. Whenever I talk to the Reps out there I always ask "where are these made?" because I want them to know it is important to me. Maybe they don't realize how many people willingly pay the premium for Capewell because they know they are made in America. I used to spend a lot on Carhartt when they were made in USA, now they are made all over the place, and I guess still some in USA. I bet a lot of folks will say 'fuck it' might as well go buy March nails. It's insulting that they come up with names like LIberty or Patriot. I have not purchased them even though Liberty supports WCB and is seems to be a quality product. I purchased SaveEdge nails because they were made in America, I think I remember them being soft. Anyway . . .

We should start a thread that lists all the American and Canadian products that we should give preference to when possible.

    BOOK PLUG:

    http://www.amazon.com/How-Americans...8808/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1330226099&sr=8-1

I heard an interview with this author and so I added his book to my wish list. Based on the interview I think it would be a really good read, the author discussed the fact that just because something isn't made in America doesn't mean that you aren't supporting American jobs. In my Carhartt example above, a lot of the R&D , as well as the headquarters and tax base is still in America even if a product is manufactured elsewhere.

So what nails are people using now. I generally buy capewell because they are not soft and are made in america (well used to be made here). What would be a good alternate choice in a hard steel nail?

Are Deltas still made here? As for Save Edge, I was just reading the NC tool catalog the other day, and they come in both a beveled and conventional shank. My local supplier didn't even know that.

Plan & simple Greed!!!. Just like Australia. America & Canada don't really have to import anything & could have full employment if they didn't import &Consumed their own produce & manufactured every thing required for their own needs. However the capitalists who control government the stock market & the Banks would be out raged by not being able to capitalise on the poorer classes. With cries of reds under the bed. Its always been & always will be about greedy share holders & profits. Nothing the working class man will ever be able to change .
