With all the new card readers out there for smartphones, I'm thinking about getting one so I can accept credit cards as payment. Is anyone else doing this? Pros and cons please and any other thoughts ya'll may have on the subject.

A friend of mine said Square had terrible customer service. I think I am going to go with Phone Swipe.

My friend said Square was almost impossible to get ahold of and if there was a problem he said you could forget about a quick resolution. He suggested Phone Swipe. I called them and had to leave a message with the new accounts department but they called back in less than 15 minutes. It took less time to set up than it takes to write this. For occasional users the fees are 2.69% if you manually swipe a card and 3.5% if you just key in the number.

I've used square for 2 years never got a 1099.

Never had any trouble or needed to contact them but I don't use it much.

Zach, You don't have to wait for 1099's. You don't have to send copies with your taxes, just report what's on them. :)

Using CC for payment since 2002. It is called cash flow. 75% of my business is CCs. sure beats waitnig on the postman of years ago. yes accpeting CCs costs a fee but that is tax deductable. shop around, costco had the best at one time but check in with your local banks......

Currently only businesses have to send 1099's, and don't have to send one if the amount is under $10, if my recollection is correct.
