A while ago I was doing a little research on Rasps and Files. Here are some of the sources I found online.

This is an interesting article on how files and rasps were made (and still are) by hand

Some old books and articles on files and rasps

    Spotonshoeing,

I have found that there are still some hand made rasps/files in todays market, not used for farrier work that I know of , the prices of them are not as high as I would have expected for hand made.

Williams explanation on the hot seating thread has raised another question to me. Which came 1st to farriery(is that a word), the nipper or the rasp?

    Regards

That is so cool! I had no idea the rifflers we use on rifle stocks were handmade!
