Some years ago there was an alloy shoe from I believe Italy and I believe the company name was Piero Olivero, my apologies to anyone of Italian descent if I massacred a name. Anyone have contact info, or know where there is a stash of the shoes? I was contacted by a client looking a couple of pairs. Thanks in advance Ray
I believe these shoes are an older design from the Italian Calvary that would help the horse stop quickly during a charge and reverse direction. If Linda were here she could prescribe the proper nails to be used.
i have some , i wi;; get some pics up for you in the week , they even come with the ferrarai car badge on the clips drop forged in the same foundry as the engine blocks
Chris, thanks for taking the time. What sizes do you have and how much would you want for them?,if for sale, and i ll pass it on to this customer. thanks again Ray
Ray they are part of my "collection " , the ones in the pics are 5 1/4 " fronts 5" hinds , the best finished manufactured shoes i have ever come across BUT ? , the nail in them is an E 9 and it is still too small , to the best of my recollection they weigh in at 4o+ euros a pair , i wouldnt nail em on a clothes horse
thanks Chris, I ll try to get an exact size from her, haven t seen the horse that she wants them for,nor have i heard the description ,clothes line for a horse either. She mentioned what sounded like these shoes but said they were titanium, if this doesn t work out, she has asked that i make her up a pair of ti. but i thought since she was happy with these it would be better to get them if i could, also maybe get rid of someones "collectables" thanks Ray
i am no metallurgist but they are not titanium to the best of my knowledge, you can wear them out with a wire brush LOL
Thanks Chris, I ll call Amy. I had checked on the net but didn t find a listing for the shoes, course it may have been that i misspelled them. Thanks again ray
your welcome , there are 3 types made the ones i showed were designed and made for showjumpers , great on the right feet , left myself open too some xxxx now LOL
Hi Josh, I got the shoes and have shipped them out of country to the customer. To answer you directly about what I thought about them, it is bout the same as when I 1st saw them a # of years ago, bent pieces of aluminum with hole in them. They are thick ,probably 1/2 inch, and they appear to be cast, so I would be wrong about them being bent, but I reshaped the hinds because they are quite mule shapped and they did not crack like a cast ali. usually does. If I were setting them I d probably re counter them for a 7 lite yankee(American city/reg. ) style head nail depending on the hoof of course. New owner of the shoes told me that she would let me know how they worked out, I ll pass it on if I hear. Ray
