In the document it stated, in legal jargon, that he just took off the shoe from each near fore foot. Here on our Forum, that developed into ripping off the shoe in a drunken rage. Every couple of weeks or so.
So no blood no saw he just pulled shoe off for non payment and what's the issue..I thought he must cut the hoof off with a saw..

I had already posted that link. Travis there's a photo of one of the hooves in question. Does that wall look like someone used clinch cutters, nail pullers or shoe pullers to remove the shoe? Or does it appear like it had been cut/ripped off? With David H and Chris here defending the guy, maybe the guy didn't do it--maybe the shoes got ripped off out in the field and the farrier admitted to something he didn't do. Stranger things have happened....
Can you define defending him please, I have publicly said he is my friend and that situation will not alter, after that I have repeatedly stated that I havent discussed anything else with Mark or anyone else, that situation wont alter either. Do I have thoughts on the situation of course I do. Do I wish it had never happened of course I do. But dont tell me what I said, or thought, like you know.
Didn't say you were defending him against the accusations/events directly; you were defending his character (ergo, the guy isn't capable of a cruel act). Chris defended him saying there's another side to the story, that the guy was harshly treated and the case was biased against him...
oops, yeah, sorry. So is hoof tape or Equicast a shoe? Would someone need four years and two months of study to learn to apply those types of products?
The long and short of it is yes and yes. Does it take 4 years 2 months to learn to remove a shoe? trim a hoof? clench a foot? make a variety of handmade shoes? Make and fit a bar shoe? Learn to read a radiograph? The period of time allows the apprentice to learn all the skills and get assesed to a national standard along with having enough experience under their belt to be safely left to shoe for the general public after this time is up.
4 years means you have assisted in shoeing, to varying degrees, of approx 5000 horses before you shoe for the general public under your own banner, I dont see any down side to that. How long does a barefoot trimmer train for out of interest?
Depends. For me, it's life-long learning (what can I say, I'm a slow learner). Here in the US anyone can go out to the local Tractor Supply Store or any farrier supply store, purchase tools for trimming AND shoeing and merrily call themselves a trimmer OR farrier with absolutely NO training or repercussions if they screw up the horse. (exceptions noted: they would not be allowed on the racetrack without a license. But does the racetrack license today really mean anything? Here's an interview with racetrack shoer Harry Patton from 1987 bemoaning the dumbed-down standards of the JHU http://www.anvilmag.com/tributes/inthp.htm)
Thats really dodging the question Denise, we all spend our lifetime learning at this job. But how long does it take to get a cert from the barefoot organisation, or to be recommended on their site or however it works? I keep hearing about weekend and 1 week courses run by them but thats only second hand information so maybe its wrong. Thanks for posting the interview, was interesting reading.

George, I concur with your thoughts. Obviously one goes to a bordello to meet a new sweetheart . . . now back to your regularly scheduled thread.
